Boston Metal’s Global Experts Collaborate with MOE Critical Metals Team: On the Ground in Minas Gerais

Features Published: August 13, 2025

This past week, members of Boston Metal’s world-class executive bench came together on site at Boston Metal do Brasil to witness progress firsthand and support our rapidly advancing MOE Critical Metals operations. The visit brought together CEO Tadeu Carneiro, Board Member Eduardo Bartolomeo and Boston Metal do Brasil President Itamar Resende.

Three of the most respected voices in global metals, united in driving our mission forward.

Boston Metal do Brasil will be recovering valuable critical metals—niobium, tantalum and tin, with more materials to come— from mining and metallurgical waste using our patented Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) platform. This facility, based in Minas Gerais, will be the first commercial deployment of MOE— a scalable, carbon emissions-free technology that uses electricity to selectively extract target metals from a variety of feedstocks.  This approach is not only substantially more efficient and cost-effective than incumbent methods, but it also unlocks economic value from materials previously dismissed as waste.

Having our leaders together on-site reflects the shared commitment and focus on driving our critical metals business forward as we move closer to bringing production online.

That momentum is built on years of vision and leadership—something Tadeu Carneiro has brought to the table since joining Boston Metal as employee number 6 in 2017, leading the company through scientific breakthroughs, oversubscribed funding rounds and transformative growth. With nearly 50 years in the metals industry—including a decade as CEO of CBMM—he brings deep experience in strategy, technology development and global commercialization, which continues to shape our approach to scaling MOE Critical Metals.

Joining the team on site was Eduardo Bartolomeo, one of the most respected executives in the global mining and metals industry and the latest addition to Boston Metal’s Board of Directors. Eduardo brings more than 30 years of experience leading complex industrial operations around the world. As former CEO of Brazil-based Fortune 500 mining company Vale, he championed decarbonization initiatives and implemented the Vale Production System (VPS) to drive operational excellence across the company’s global footprint. His decision to join Boston Metal reflects the growing momentum behind MOE and its potential to deliver scalable, cost-competitive and green solutions for steel and critical metals.

Itamar Resende oversees daily operations at Boston Metal do Brasil and, with nearly five decades in the metals and mining industry, he brings a powerful combination of technical depth and executive leadership. With more than 30 years focused on the transformation of niche metals and alloys—including tantalum, niobium, tin and aluminum—and leadership roles at companies such as AMG, Mineracao Taboca and Sigma Lithium, Itamar is guiding our Brazil-based team toward a strong commercial launch.

Together, their presence in Minas Gerais reflects the strength, alignment and experience driving Boston Metal’s progress as we prepare to generate revenue from MOE Critical Metals and continue accelerating the path to cleaner, more profitable metals production.
