Boston Metal awarded North American Company of the Year by Cleantech Group

Boston Metal has had the great honor of being named 2023 North American Company of the Year by the Cleantech Group, in addition to making the Global Cleantech 100 list for the fourth consecutive year. Our CEO Tadeu Carneiro was present for the awards banquet at the Cleantech Forum North America today, January 24, 2023, to receive the award, which recognizes the strength of our Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE)  technology to lower carbon emissions in the steel industry. Tadeu will take the stage again tomorrow at the Cleantech Forum to discuss Boston Metal’s journey to date, the growing interest in steel decarbonization, how Boston Metal’s technology compares to others in the space, and how federal policy will impact the industry going forward.

The North American Company of the Year is awarded to the highest-ranked company in North America out of a wide range of private, independent, and for-profit companies that are expected to lead their respective industries and broader society to a net-zero world. Selecting Boston Metal from a total of 15,753 of nominations from over 93 countries, the Global Cleantech 100 Expert Panel gave us high marks for our fundraising success and our unique approach to decarbonizing steel production that enables the direct use of renewable electricity as well as decentralized production. The selection panel is composed of investors and corporate and industry executives who are active in technology and innovation scouting. The Global Cleantech 100 program has been running since 2009, and past winners of the North American Company of the Year include AMP Robotics, Carbon Engineering, and Carbon Cure.

“We’re thrilled to be named North American Company of the Year, having been selected out of such an impressive group of companies working to achieve a net-zero economy. With the steel industry contributing about 10% of the world’s carbon emissions, transforming steel production to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy is essential to this goal,” said CEO of Boston Metal, Tadeu Carneiro. Recognition from the Cleantech Group is further validation of the strength of our team and innovative MOE technology that positions Boston Metal to lead the green steel revolution.”
